Job Title: Art Classroom Instructor
Status: Part-time, Nonexempt
Reports To: Education Director
Job Summary
The Art Classroom Instructor is responsible for planning, instructing and coordinating educational classes and activities for both adults and children of all abilities. This is a part-time position that will work with the Mosaic Education Director to provide art classes for all age groups year-round at Mosaic. Hours will vary based on class schedule but will primarily be in the afternoon and evenings.
Job Responsibilities
Education
- Create evolving educational programming as well and new educational opportunities to the community and adapting to public interest.
- Design and teach multiple classes per month for varying ages groups in coordination with the Education Director.
- Assist managing inventory for art and class supplies.
- Assist with special activities and parties for holidays.
- Plan, create, and assemble take-home curbside crafts kits.
- Set up the classroom for daily activities and classes. Clean up after classes and clean supplies.
- Demonstrate techniques and produce sample works to help students understand concepts
- Prepare class schedule, lesson plan, and supply list one month in advance for Education Director review.
- Prepare and organize art materials for upcoming classes.
- Ensure the classroom and prep areas remain clean, safe, and organized.
- Communicate professionally with staff, parents, and students.
- Facilitate outside art instructor classes to ensure classes are executed successfully.
- Provide support for the Education Director as needed.
- Adapt instruction to meet the needs of all students.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Must have a friendly, patient, and creative personality.
- Must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision.
- Communicate with parents, teachers and day service supervisors to coordinate classes, problem solve concerns.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, including writing, proof reading skills, and speaking.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of staff and volunteers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism.
- Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality.
- Proficient using the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, email and web searches.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Bachelor’s degree in art education or related field preferred but not required.
- Applicable experience teaching art classes required.
- Must pass background check.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
